What A Reader Should Understand Concerning A Cycling Bikes Review
March 18, 2010 by Jack Bennington
A cycling bikes review is a great way to find features to look for in good cycling bikes. By choosing a piece of equipment that is comfortable, you are more likely to use that cycling bike regularly and to meet your own goals for fitness.
It is very important that you choose a sturdy bike when purchasing a stationary bike. Take a look at the bike you are about to purchase and be sure that the stand is sturdy and large enough to support the bike in an upright position at all times.
If you have joint problems, you will probably prefer the recumbent bike. It is lower to the ground and easier on the joints. The seat is wider and shaped like a chair with a back. The problem with this bike is that you must work out from a seated position and cannot stand to push the pedals.
The upright bike requires the mobility to hike your leg over the higher center support bar. It places you seated in a much higher position off the ground. The seat, while larger than most regular bicycle seats is smaller than the recumbent seat. It is less comfortable, does not provide any back support or armrests. The advantage is that you can stand up when the peddling gets tough.
While each type of bike often has handles which move to give an upper body workout, their effectiveness has not been proven. Many times the can be more of a hindrance than a help in the workout.
Using any type of stationary bike is an excellent way to burn calories. However, the only muscles that receive a workout are from the waist down. For a balanced approach, you will need to alternate time on the bike with time spent on an upper body workout.
Many of the less expensive bikes only must have the resistance changed manually. While you can change that resistance to fit your own workout style, it is often difficult to find the correct adjustment. The more expensive bikes have a computer that controls the resistance. Resistance can be changed with the push of a button or can even be set to run through a program that varies the resistance to simulate riding on a road that has some inclines and down slopes.
You will also find bikes that have heart rate monitors. The monitors can help you to be sure that you are working within the target heart rate. It can also sound a warning if your workout becomes too intense and you need to slow down to allow your heart to relax. After finishing the workout, the monitor may be used to know when you have achieved the correct cool down and can safely stop biking.
A Cycling Bikes Review may help you to choose the best bike for your own particular situation. It will allow you to compare some of the top rated bikes and chose the one most appropriate for your needs.
