BMX Bikes, the differences

March 26, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

BMX bikes are extremely well-liked at the moment, BMX is an acronym for Bicycle Motocross and these bikes tend to be a pedal powered edition of the ever preferred Motocross style of Motorbike. BMX bikes are very strong, they have more compact wheels which are stronger and absolutely no gears to break! As the BMX bikes have a lesser number of components they will also be less expensive to buy. For the same cash you will always obtain a higher quality BMX bike than any other kind of bicycle because of the lack of elements. BMX bikes were initially used to race around a similar circuit to Motocross bikes but have developed into the must have bike type for numerous kids. As with anything, as the recognition of BMX bikes has risen the prices have dropped.

It is now possible to by a BMX bike for less than 100!!! But is this a proper BMX bike?

There are various different types of BMX bike. First of all there is the race BMX which is where BMX came from, these bikes are the originals and are created to be a light weight race machine. In more recent times BMX bikes have been used for increasingly more extreme types of riding and there are several types of this severe BMX available. Street BMX bikes are designed for Street riding, these BMX's are very robust and designed to be ridden across all types of urban obstacles. The Dirt BMX is designed for dirt jumping, this is jumping over big manmade piles of earth and usually throwing a few tricks in for good measure! Ramp BMX bikes are very similar to street bikes but are a bit lighter as they are used for indoor skateparks where the surface is generally wood. The last kind of BMX Bike is the flatland bike. These bikes have a tendency to be more costly and are created for tricks and stunts whilst in contact with the ground (the majority of the time!)

Affordable BMX bikes are normally a mixture of the ramp and street BMX forms and are made to a price range. These bikes will likely not be suited for safe and sound serious riding and are intended to give the "overall look" for a small percentage of the price tag of the real thing. Invest in a cheap BMX if you want the physical appearance and do not propose to do nearly anything more excessive than the occasional bunny hop off a curb! If you want a considerable BMX for really serious BMX riding then you will need to be looking to expend at least 250.

Cheap BMX bikes totally have a position but they are certainly not in fact a BMX bike, they are a cycle that appears like a BMX, which I am confident is excellent for the majority of people who buy them but some folk may be frustrated as soon as the cycle does not surpass expected results.

If you are looking for both Cheap BMXbikes or somthing a bit more heavy duty click here for some great deals

Introducing the fresh new Shimano XTR Race M985 Disc Brake

March 23, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

Shimano's most recent offering from their disc brake range is among 2, this version, the Race M985 edition is promoted as being the more expensive variation but less effective when compared to XTR Trail M988.

The brand new M985 Race commences its existence on the disc brake market with Ten percent additional power than previous years XTR disc brake however has also had some changes to its design and style. To begin with, the normal element anything XTR is its branded colour, sort of gun metal grey has been cast off for the a lot more extravagant, polished appearance.

The lever itself has been ergonomically improved for a better match on to the bars and improved feel and performance. Among the most sublte improvements is the marketplace first, complete ceramic piston. No other disc brake firm went down this road yet nevertheless it makes perfect sense to me. With any disc brake, as you apply your brakes the friction caused between the brake pads and disc brake rotor creates a heat build-up. It is transferred into the piston which will in turn affect the heat of the brake fluid. When many people refer to ''brake pump'', this is because of the brake fluid over heating and causing a reduction in feel and power in the brake. Simply, ceramic handles heat extremely effectively and seems like a smart idea to start using this technology in disc brakes . Plus, in order to take this concept one step more, you can additionally upgrade to Shimano's Ice Technology radiator brake pads which are a resin compound brake pad which has an alloy backplate to help reduce heat.

An additional smaller little treat from Shimano is the introduction of what they talk about as I-Spec. This is an integration system just like that of the Avid Matchmaker which enables you to attach the brake lever to your shifters. Naturally they both should be Shimano and also the brakes should be bought in this particular specific version. Still, an additional good method to reduce the clutter on your bars and tiding things up whilst saving pounds.

This brand names spanking completely new product from Shimano absolutely lives up to the regular standard of Shimano and XTR. Some could be delayed by the asking price of 189.99 but there are lots of intriguing and impressive features loaded in for your cash.

Make Picking The Right Bicycle Easier

March 22, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

The preferred mode of transport has taken an unlikely turn in recent years. Before the car was transport of choice but recently however the use of push bikes has become increasingly popular. It could be down to efforts to remain green, perhaps people want to save money on high gas prices, or maybe many people just want to get in shape! No matter what has caused it, the fact is there are now more cyclists on the road than in a long while. Have you been thinking about getting a bicycle? If you have then there are several things you should look at when you do. It doesn't matter if you happen to be trying to find a girls 20 bike, perhaps a pink bicycle for a gift for someone in your family or only looking at the best mountain bike reviews you need to locate the very best bicycle for your requirements.

You must make sure you get a bike that is the appropriate size for you. Begin by measuring your inseam. Simply measure through your inner leg from your groin to the bottom of your foot to find out your inseam. The goal is to be able to sit on the seat of the bike and still rest your feet flat on the ground. This is for saftey reasons and will allow you to stop the bike if your brakes fail, avoiding any injury.

If you intend to get a road bike then take 9" away from your total inseam. This is due to the type of tires you will be using for a road bike. Designed to work best on concrete pavements, road bikes are best suited to cycling around the city. You will want to subtract 12" for a mountain bike. This is because the tires of a mountain bike are different than those on a road bike. These tires are designed to handle rocky and jagged terrain so are therefore thicker. It is possible to use mountain bikes for city cycling although this is not what they are best suited for.

Children's bikes have altogether different things to consider. A bike that is easy to brake is important, it will also need to be pretty durable because children are not known for respecting their belongings, you will also want one with wide tires to add stability to the bike. Because children's bikes can quickly become too small for your child, you should take into consideration the price you are paying, as well as the style you are choosing.

How well you fit physically with your bike is what is most important. If you intend to use your bike a lot, perhaps as your main method of transport, it is important you keep this in mind. Comfort and safety are both very important.

The Right Bicycle Seat For Men, Women And Kids

March 20, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

Choosing the right bicycle seat for men, women or kids is just as important as choosing a handlebar, tires or bike frame. With the right choice, the rides will prove to be more enjoyable. So I have listed down five things that you can look for when choosing a bicycle seat. Is it worth following a list like this? Definitely yes. With some guidelines in place, you can confidently choose your right seat match.

1. Anatomy of the rider

Yes, men and women have different body shapes and this is reflected in the array of bike seats. We have bicycle seats for men, women and kids. Then this needs to broken down further into whether the rider is slim, medium built or heavy. For example, a heavy bicycle rider would find a thin and firm model to be quite uncomfortable so choosing a wider base and a bit softer type would be more appropriate.

2. Check Out The Traditional Or Unconventional Models

Traditional bicycle seats have been the foundation of the bike seat world for many eons. They have changed slightly over decades as bicycle seat research have found this type of seat to be ideal for the pumping thighs and the hunched over posture of many bicycle riders. Changes to the traditional structure have been in the width, length and materials used. Recently, a hole has appeared in the middle of the seats to allow the groin area much needed relief. Unconventional models are slowly gaining support due to the medical research findings that there are some problems found with long distance riders. Unconventional models have done away with the nose area and focused on supporting the hip and pelvic bones.

3. Bicycle Seat Structure and Makeup

Sounds contradictory? Brand buying have a knack for busting budgets. The good news is that there are good brands with fair prices. Brands that are proven and are produced by companies with bicycling heritage will normally prove to be well worth the money. Bicycle seats that are designed for men, women or kids have a lot of research done by these companies.

4. Base Your Choice On Whether You Are A Competitive Or A Casual Rider

Casual bicycle riding will normally require a softer bicycle seat for the less than ten kilometers a day rides. The sponge or gel that makes up the softer seats will push up on the seat bones and be uncomfortable over long distance riding. Long distance bicycle riding or competitive cycling requires a firmer seat that has a longer length for men and a shorter length and wider base for women.

5. Match the Bicycle Seat To The Bicycle Frame

Mountain bikes will have their own world of bicycle seats as do the BMX and competitive bikes. So the kind of bicycle you have will determine the basic seat that you should buy. A mismatch between the bicycle and the seat will be wasteful and a very uncomfortable ride. Choose a seat that complements your bicycle frame and the type of bicycling you intend to do.

For a wide variety of bicycle seats for men, women and kids check out the site at www.bicycleseatsformen.org. Conan Hatch is a retired competitive cyclist and is keen to share his knowledge.

Kona Big Kahuna 2011 Review – Please Comment and offer Me Your notions

March 17, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

For 2011 Kona expanded their exposure inside the big wheel market using the 2011 Big Kahuna. Featuring unique features this new breed of bike is represented well written by this bike although less powerful riders may have a problem with the greater wheels.

Kona decided to roll out with backswept bars with regard to new 29er which combined with the steep seat angle to provide a strange riding position which may be slightly uncomfortable every now and then, even though the natural dirt riding feel it offers a superior is usually definitely worth the slight discomfort.

When riding in the rough stuff, the forks combined with stiff frame takes it's toll on your wrist & feet making long rides somewhat not possible, even so the benefit to this is usually a nimble frame that is highly responsive, but hardly the best of both worlds.

Despite the presence of the particularly smooth easton wheelset the quality of ride usually is poor, something you can't really cope with with any 1500 bike. The main upset of this Kona could possibly be the weight, featuring steel all around the frame to include strength the bike feels heavy when riding then when as well as the 29" wheels it may be a real struggle to have the bike up anything in addition to the short grunt climbs.

One main advantage of the Kona Big Kahuna 29 is that all these problems, bar the weight can be upgraded if needed, although expensive in comparison to buying a more advanced 29er like the Giant XTC.With a big frame & wheel combination combined with perfect geometry the Kona Big Kahuna is an obvious choice for powerful riders and although not perfect, one of our recommended bikes for 2011. Please feel free to check it out!

Kona are one of the top biking brands across the England. Please click on the phrase Kona to go through to an amazing range of bikes and accessories at very good prices.
