Everything You Need To Know About Iron Horse Mountain Bikes

Iron Horse sells many different bike styles, ranging from racing bicycles to mountain bikes. Their focus, however, is generally on freeride, downhill and all mountain types. There were around fifty bikes in ten different lines in their 2006 bike offerings. If you want a bike from Iron Horse, it's a good idea to remember that you won't have a lot of choice about looks. Most bikes are dark gray, with some examples in chrome. A few red, white, and green bikes are also available, and some of their darker bikes come with colorful detailing.

Iron Horse maintains a pro team, with top riders. In 2006, members of the Iron Horse Pro Team took first in the downhill portion of the world cup, as well as in 2007, though they took only third in 2008. Iron Horse bikes are built for high performance, and usually feature aluminum frames.

Using their optimized profile tubing with large diameters and low aspect ratios, they produce light, strong, stiff bikes that are faster and a lot more efficient. Oversized bearings allow for lighter flex free suspension that's lighter than smaller diameter bearings and steel pivots. Approximate weights for frames from Iron Horse vary between six pounds and nine pounds, depending on the frame. Those weights are for medium frames, and don't include the weight of either the headset or shocks.

The Iron Horse site is informative and useful to anyone interested in one of these great mountain bikes. You'll learn about each model, and you'll get information about buying the right size bike for you in each frame type. You can also located dealers from the Iron Horse website, since the company, like many bicycle manufacturers, doesn't sell its models directly to customers.

If you're looking for a top of the line mountain bike that's optimized for performance, Iron Horse should be on your list of manufacturers to check out. They offer excellent high end bikes that are light, efficient, and top of the line. While they might not be the best choice for casual riders, they're a great option for anyone who's serious about cycling.
